T#030 HOW THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS!

Man's expectations

of HOW THE HOLY

SPIRIT LEADS US:

1.    Because HE is GOD ....... we expect miraculous signs and concrete evidence of HIS leading.

Yet, we are not to ask
 for miraculous signs. 

 >>Matthew 12:38-39

    
2.    Because of HIS goodness and wisdom ---- in our moments of decisions, we crave for clear definite indisputable signs of HIS leading us.

Yet, we are told
"Walk by the faith
and not by sight". 

>>2nd Corinthians  5:7

Yes, it is not
a question of
whether GOD can do
what we want

---- it is whether
what we want
is part of

HIS PLAN.

•    What THE New COVENANT says:

I.  Refer to >>Mark 1:9-13 and >>Matthew 3:13-4:11

1.     The Holy Spirit indwells us

• upon the forgiveness of our sinnings

• through our obedience

• one after another

• to the 3 OBEY-or-DIE commands

• particularly upon our immersion
  

as we come "Up out of the
water".  >>Matthew 3:16 and
>>Mark 1:10 as well as
>>Acts 2:38 also. 

• ---- Without HIS indwelling,

• ---- how can we be Spirit-led all the time?

2.    The leading of The Holy Spirit

• makes us SPIRITUAL, 

• that is contemplative, or 

more apt to be increasingly
effective at listening to 

• one's s-p-i-r-i-t --- 

• ---- comprised of his [1] intuition, [2] conscience, and [3] sense of communion with GOD

....... before we
decide and act!

• THIS led JESUS into the desert

• where HE was

(with only HIS intuition,
conscience, and sense of
communion with GOD) 

• all by HIMSELF

• (without concern for HIS body)

• --- fasting for 40 days.

3.    The leading of The Holy Spirit

• makes one less-and-less SOULISH;

• that is, less-and-less rushing 

to decide and act just based 
on one's perception from
one's SOUL

• --- comprised of one's [1] will , [2] intelligence, [3] emotions,  and [4] urges & appetites !!!

• --- sensed and controlled through our [1] Self-control, [2] Opinions, [3] Unreasoned opinions, and [4] Lusts -- respectively!

JESUS HIMSELF

depended only on

"THE SWORD of
The Spirit,

which is THE WORD
of GOD"

(>>Ephesians 6:17)

• when HE was confronted by the devil

• when HE said "It is written" in >>verse 4

• "It is also written" in >>verse 7, and

• "For it is written" in >>verse 10.

 The leading of
The Holy Spirit
therefore ---

makes one accept

THE
AUTHORITY
of THE BIBLE ---

• thereby making us increasingly becoming SPIRITUAL

• like JESUS proved to us by HIS example for us to follow

• --- quoted >>Deuteronomy 8:3, >>6:16 and >>6:1

• as recorded now in >>Matthew Chapter 4 in verses >>4, >>7, and >>10 respectively 

--- instead of we depending on
our argumentative ability 

• --- from our intellects, feelings, urges & appetites and decisiveness.

       
    Special mention:
       
A.     Not all those who quote the scriptures are Spirit-led though! Notice the devil quoting >>Psalms 91:11-12 in >>Matthew 4:6.
       
B.     JESUS is distinctly man here --- GOD cannot be tempted! (>>James 1:13)



II.  Refer to Acts of The Holy Spirit >>Chapter 1:12-26 in the matter of CHOOSING a replacement to Judas.  

• Surely one would doubt if it is the leading of The Holy Spirit to resolve a question of great importance as the choosing of the replacement to Judas via a lottery or drawing of lots.

• Furthermore intriguing is the question if it is GOD's wisdom that in the selection from among two men, one will naturally get glorified (the chosen) and the other embarrassed.

These things are
however certain
here in these
scriptures:

1.     These apostles are plain men whose understanding of what were written in THE SCRIPTURES (>>verses 16 and >>20) led them to conclude the necessity of deciding on a replacement of Judas (>>verse 21).

2.     The same human interpretation led them to propose two men with which to select from (>>verse 23).

3.     The same human interpretation led them to be prayerful not wanting the decision to come from themselves (>>verse 24).

4.     The same human interpretation, without resorting to further contemplation, drove them to draw lots right then and there (>>verse 26).

5.     The Whole Book of THE ACTS of The Holy Spirit Through The Apostles and.... THE New COVENANT AS A WHOLE though .... do not record or mention any repudiation of the apostleship of Matthias.

WHAT WE CAN SEE HERE IS

THE HOLY SPIRIT

LEADS MEN WHO WITHOUT
DEBATE & ARGUMENT

UNSELFISHLY and PRAYERFULLY
SEEK TO DO

 WHAT THEY UNDERSTAND
THE WILL OF GOD TO BE

FROM THEIR READINGS
OF THE SCRIPTURES.

• REIGN SUPREME IN HIS LIFE

SENSE OF
COMMUNION WITH GOD

INSTEAD ...... before HE
ACTED !!!!)

3.    TO PUT OUR authoritative SELVES in THE POSITION TO BE LED by THE HOLY SPIRIT

4.    TO DISCERN if OTHERS ARE:

            a)    SPIRIT-led

            b)    correcting their selves [decisions-actions, opinions, unreasoned opinions and lusts]

            c)    putting their selves [decisions-actions, opinions, unreasoned opinions and lusts] in the position to be led by The Holy Spirit
