THE LAYING ON OF HANDS
- THE BAPTISM WITH The Holy Spirit by JESUS
- overwhelmed the 12 apostles
- and gave them miraculous powers!
- In addition to the 12 apostles,
- some disciples were given miraculous powers
- by the laying on of APOSTOLIC hands.
- Please refer to >>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapters 6:6, >>8:9-17, and >>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapters 18 to 19:6, >>Romans 1:11 and >>2ndTimothy 1:6.
All the above scriptures
point to
point to
the apostles themselves
laying their hands
- to impart diverse gifts (>>1st Corinthians 12:4-11)
- manifested in miracles and signs
ALL aimed at confirming
THE WORD of GOD
THE WORD of GOD
- to them then who received their verbal teachings
WHEN THE New COVENANT
was still in the process of
being written
(>>Mark 16:20)
was still in the process of
being written
(>>Mark 16:20)
- as well as to them of the subsequent ages.
- This includes us, who makes THE New COVENANT
- as the rule and guide of our accumulating faith
- wherein and from which we believe such miracles
- in keeping with >>John 3:2, >>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapter 2:2-47, and >>John 20:30-31 among others.
In THE CHURCH
in Jerusalem then
in Jerusalem then
- signs and wonders were done initially only
- by the 12 apostles
- (>>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapters 2:43 and >>5:12)
- This was true until the apostles laid their hands
- on the seven who were given the role & task to settle=
- and thereafter avoid the problem on food distribution
- (>>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapter 6:6)
- Then, both Stephen and Philip performed miracles.
BOTH could not however
impart this power to others.
impart this power to others.
- After many of the Samaritans received THE WORD,
- believed IT and got themselves baptized
- and consequently indwelt by The Holy Spirit
- for their new life-living (>>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapter 8:12-13)
- the apostles sent Peter and John
- all the way from Jerusalem to Samaria
- to lay their hands on at least some of the new believers
- (>>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapter 8:4-18)
- to give them The Holy Spirit’s outward manifestations
- such as the power for their confidence
- to do their evangelizing/teaching work.
If Philip who was
already performing
miracles
already performing
miracles
- though not himself an apostle
- --- BUT by virtue of the laying on of apostolic hands on him
- --- could have given them such power
- translated into those outward manifestations he was already having
why were Peter and John
had to be sent
had to be sent
all the way from Jerusalem
to lay their hands on them?
- What Simon actually wanted to buy
- was the power to get The Spirit INDWELL
- whoever he may lay his hands on!
- (>>Acts of the Holy Spirit Chapter 8:19).

- Yet, with this ordinary measure
we are not short of anything for
THE WORK of THE LORD
to be effective!
- We are now(!) equipped
- with THE WRITTEN WORD of GOD
- which The Holy Spirit found fit to equip us with
- (>>2nd Timothy 3:16-17)
- unlike them in our predecessors' time!!!
Two specific cases of
laying on of hands
on record in
THE New COVENANT
