of THE CORRUPTIONS

COMING from WITHIN

THE CHURCH Herself!

v8 “And care/of THE MESSENGER

• to THE CHURCH IN SUFFERING

• [in Smyrna then in circa A.D. 96-100,] write:

• THE FIRST and THE LAST, WHO was dead,

• and has come to life, says this:

This is the picture of

THE JUDGE-CHIEF-PRIEST
-KING-REDEEMER JESUS
THE CHRIST HIMSELF

wanted HIMSELF
to be reckoned with

• by HIS CHURCH

• that used to be in desirable status

• but whose spiritual reality was threatened and has deteriorated

• because of the demeanor and utterances of THOSE NICOLAITANS then

• in their gatherings.

BEHOLDING HIM this way
is the only way

to OVERCOME

those corruptions and
human authorities

• and be victorious in suffering

• in order to live as THE CHURCH

• --- uncorrupted,

• such as some of those people of GOD were

• in their own lifetime, circa A.D. 96 – 100 or thereabouts.

v9 ‘I know your tribulation

• and your poverty (but you are rich),

• and the blasphemy

• by those who say they are Jews,

• claimant authorities in GODLINESS and are not,

• but are a synagogue of Satan.

THE CHURCH then
continued to be

naturally persecuted by

• unbelievers in THE LORDSHIP & THE CHRISTHOOD of JESUS and

here they were suffering
even more under

THOSE NICOLAITANS

• whose words and behaviors inside THE CHURCH

• in their fellowship meetings

• were those as coming from authorities

• in matters of spirituality but are not in reality!!!

WHAT A HARSH JUDGMENT
directed against

some inside HIS VERY OWN
ONLY CHURCH!

• What a difference from what THE LORD wants of them and what they have become!!!!

• THESE NICOLAITANS have lost sight of the fact

• THE WORD of GOD spoken through the apostles is POWER, WEALTH and AUTHORITY in ITSELF and

that THE CHURCH

has absolutely
no need

for human authority

that THOSE
>>> NICOLAITANS
projected
THEMSELVES

in their gatherings.

v10 ‘Do not fear what

• you are about to suffer.

• Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison,

• that you may be tested,

• and you will have tribulation ten days.

• Be faithful until death,

• and I will give you the crown of life.

Fear not! If we only know that
that something we fear

is caused by Satan --

more than half
the problem of fearing

would have outright been
done away with each time.

• Man’s greater problem is overcoming fear

• that starts and stays within him as he thinks and lives

• as part of THE CHURCH with that problem

• THE CHURCH IN SUFFERING in Smyrna then

• was experiencing during their own lifetime.

• And so were they then told by THE LORD.

• Their suffering shall only be for a short time.

• They were told being faithful unto their death is

• a matter of both time and of attitude only

• as enjoined of us in

• >>James 1:2-6.

After that,

their reward

of royal life

awaits them!

v11 ‘He who has an ear,

• let him listen to what The Spirit says to the churches.

• He who OVERCOMES shall not be hurt by the second death.’

This was the promise
given to

THE OVERCOMERS
of
those behaviors & utterances
yet
that corrupted

THE CHURCH FROM
WITHIN then

• --- to the few Christians then who put to naught

• the behaviors and utterances of THOSE NICOLAITANS among them then

• because of whom they suffered

• during that period of THE CHURCH existence

• started in A.D.96-100 .... lasting even to the 3rd century.

• Being terribly in suffering, what a relief and source of hope it was to them

• even just to be promised by THE JUDGE --- THE LORD JESUS,

that not only will they escape
the second death, they will
not even suffer
the hurt of it.
